This is in Beryl Cook’s typical humorous style of protagonists. The dancers are not shown as glamorous nor sexy but are ordinary people having fun dancing tango on the street - a much more realistic reflection of tango.

Their dance move is a recognisable double gancho, subtly performed.

Beryl does however include the cliché red flower behind the ear, and the instrument is portrayed as an accordion rather than the iconic tango bandoneón.

Beryl lived in Devon, and died in 2008.
